Emily is a fiber artist based in New Jersey. She crochets, weaves, and latch-hooks mostly organic materials such as fruit and vegetable waste to create wearable costumes and wall hangings. Emily has recently had her work exhibited in an international MFA online exhibition at University of Montana and has also had work shown in Philadelphia, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Emily has received a Haystack scholarship and while attending University of the Arts for her BFA in Material Studies, she was awarded the Rosalie Borowsky Belkin Award in Fibers. Her practice focuses on exaggerated texture in order to create a ?fidget zone? for the viewer. She uses fidgeting and the repetitive actions of traditional textile processes to help ease symptoms from having ADHD and psychosis. She celebrates life and existence with the bright colors she uses to help evoke a physical spiritual connection. She finds her purpose while helping others have a better understanding of what it means to have a different mental space.
