    Mark Vander Heide (b. 1990) hails from Holland, a small town on the shores of Lake Michigan. After graduating in 2013 with a bachelor’s in sociology, Mark moved to Pittsburgh, PA for a year-long artist residency program. He stayed a few years more, spending time as an arts and early childhood educator and making pots out of several studios around town. In the fall of 2020, Mark moved to Detroit, MI to attend Cranbrook Academy of Art.
    Mark has exhibited work in numerous group shows across the United States, including at: Union Project (Pittsburgh, PA), Main Street Arts (Clifton Springs, NY), Saltstone Ceramics (Seattle, WA), and Companion Gallery (Humboldt, TN).
    When he is not in the studio, one can find Mark baking cakes, hunting for wild mushrooms, growing plants, petting cats, and hanging out with his housemates.
