This kurinuki chawan (Tea Bowl) was carved by hand out of a solid shaped block of mogusa style stoneware. It was then painted with gosu slip, coated in a traditional feldspathic copper glaze, and fired to Cone 10 (about 2350F, 1287C). The clay is completely vitrified at this temperature and can safely be microwaved and washed in the dishwasher.
