Sangun Park is a painter raised in Seoul, Korea. His life was demanding. He was pushed into competitive athletics, and no matter how successful he was, expectations could not be met. Demands from those around him seemingly increased with the pain he experienced in and outside of his body. Tired of everything, he blindly came to the United States in 2017 with the desire to start a new life. As he didn’t have a plan, he fell short and suffered in his efforts to improve his situation. These experiences asked him to reflect on himself, and he started painting to overcome the pain of his own inadequacy. In the process, he felt the limitations of learning and wanted to interact with various artists, therefore he joined Maryland Institute College of Art in 2019. After completing studying at the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2022, to become a full-time artist, he entered the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2022, looking forward to fully investing in his artistic experience and meeting a higher level of peers, critics and skills.
