Tryst Red is a Detroit-based artist (b. 1994). Her work is an exploration of self, intimacy, and a person’s physical and mental existence within their space. She is investigating the relationship individuals have with themselves and their environments – exploring connections between a body and memory.

Tryst’s work celebrates and explores shared experiences, personal memories, and the complexity of self, acknowledging our need for intimacy and connection. She emphasizes collaboration, whether it be social practice — focusing on the connection between the artist and the subject, or immersive installation, encouraging the audience to sit with feelings of familiarity.

Tryst has been photographing analog and digital for over 11 years, with an emphasis on studio lighting and formal portraiture. She graduated from Wayne State University in 2020 with a BFA in photography and art history and is scheduled to graduate with her MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art on May 12th, 2023.
