Chris Salas (they/them) is a ceramic artist and educator who lives and works in Southeast Michigan. Originally from Clawson, MI, Chris has lived in cities across the country including San Francisco, CA, Tucson, AZ, and Minneapolis, MN. They have been a visiting artist at Northern Michigan University and have completed residencies at Ceramic School in Hamtramck, MI and at Northern Clay Center in Minneapolis, MN.
Chris began working with clay in community ceramics studios Romero House Potters and Tucson Clay Co-op in Tucson, Arizona. Their education continued through workshops at Penland School of Craft, Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, and through the New Institute for Ceramics Education (MN NICE) program at Northern Clay Center. Chris is currently pursuing an MFA in Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art, scheduled for graduation in 2023.
