Mieyoshi Ragernoir is a figurative painter and mixed media artist from Harlem, New York. She received her BFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY and is a 2nd-year graduating from Painting at Cranbrook Academy of Art. Mieyoshi creates celebratory paintings of the relationships between Black people; predominantly portraitures that highlight the radiance and joy of Black women. As a Harlem native, the culturally rich style, languages, and aura of the Harlem community influence every element of the paintings. Using her paintbrush as a tool of empowerment, Black and Brown femme-identifying figures are often depicted in front of vibrantly colorful backgrounds or old streets based on Ragernoir’s childhood.
