Evie Dahmer is a Michigan based artist and designer. Born in Royal Oak in 1999, Dahmer’s entire life has been spent in Michigan. Dahmer acquired a BA in Creative Advertising with a minor in Comics and Animation Storytelling from Michigan State University. While at Michigan State, Dahmer worked in scientific communication both as a creative director and graphic designer for the Health and Risk Communication Center, as well as at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology as a designer and communications assistant. During free time at Michigan State University, Dahmer wrote and recorded music and released a flagship album, Dahmer’s Breakfast. Although entertained and engaged by advertising classes while in undergraduate, as graduation approached, Dahmer grew increasingly apprehensive about a life of using art and psychology to sell products. Instead, Dahmer enrolled at Cranbrook Academy of Art. At Cranbrook, Dahmer’s work explores the impacts of mass media and advertising on popular culture. Dahmer’s work also takes a close look at queer experience through antifolk music and visual arts.
