Growing up with financial constraints I’ve learned to take great care for the world around me, creating a sort of preciousness and reverence for the things I interact with – savoring the beauty found in the ordinary moments of life. Whether it’s the warm glow of the sun forming intricate patterns of light through my bedroom blinds, the typographic variety found on plastic Thank You bags, or the vibrancy of fruit stickers, these seemingly mundane items are art objects in and of themselves. As a creative, I find it my responsibility to exalt the ordinary. All too often our days are filled with an assault of noise and distractions that keep us from noticing our surroundings. It’s only when the overlooked gets elevated to the status of art objects, do we take notice. Transforming what has been neglected or discarded into a focal point of attention.
