Lyric Shen (born California, 1993) is a visual artist working primarily in tattoo, ceramic, and movement. Their projects incorporate the research of images, text, materials, and techniques to articulate connections between things on Earth, the archival and repertorial, the past and future. They create sculptures, drawings, installation and videos shaped by sensory obligation to Taiwanese and American folk art and cyberculture. Shen has exhibited at Murmurs Gallery (Los Angeles), 8 Palms Gallery (Los Angeles), Cone Shape Top Center for Arts & Music (Emeryville), Art Queen (Joshua Tree), dA Center for the Arts (Pomona), NAVEL (Los Angeles), and Taiwan Artist Village (Taipei). Their work is in the permanent collections at the University of California, Santa Barbara Arts & Music Library, and their writing and work has been featured in Cultured Mag and Hyperallergic.
