Jessy Slim is an architect and artist. She holds a bachelor’s of architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and a master’s of architecture from Cranbrook Academy of Art. Her work is about a space in between, a place that deconstructs, re-frames, re-examines our surroundings, systems in place and their implications. Utilizing architecture, installation, sculpture and photography, intuition and memory drives her research-making based practice. Beirut has influenced her work to look at history, find means of re-imaging current systems of place, power and authority. The projects act as an iconoclast, and synthesize a way to understand and question the innate nature of things around us.
