I embrace the role of the archival fabricator, which may carry context surrounding history of craft, domestic repeats, or practices of women’s work throughout time. Within the concepts of these influences, my work carries notions surrounding fragility, process, and transience. These become heightened by the meaningful movements that may arise either through the making or the performance of the presentation. These moments of making are reflective – the piece materializes the labor of the process, and the use embodies a historically grounded domestic or formalized tradition. The finished piece and the moments of use give rise to capture familiar meanings both practical and ritualistic. These perceptions fuel my ongoing investigation of tangible objects in cultural context.
